Viroqua Wisconsin: May 2007

I love small town life

I just spent some time tonight reading some of the posts on AR about all the fuss over on the West Coast with the 60 Minutes piece and Redfin. Boy it is nice to be in a little town where folks still wave at you when you drive down the highway. It is wonderful that so many of our clients trust us and know that you are doing your best job for them when they need to sell their homes. I don't think I care for the cut throat super high tech fast lane in Redfinville... They seem to be so really mean to each other, the comments on the various links to blogs out in the Seattle area are red hot with attitudes. I think they can have the big city life because it is really great here under the rainbow in our small town rural markets.

Come Home to Viroqua (sold)

Solid Stone Built Ranch... With a unique 60's design that is hip and swank. Homes from this era are now referred to as the Retro Style or an Atomic Ranch. This extraordinary Viroqua Country home is a fabulous example of this Postwar Modern Architecture Style. If you have any interest whatsoever in interior design and post WWII architecture then this home, which was custom built in 1965 is sure to pique your interest, as it is a superstructure. It even comes with a real bomb shelter. Recalling a well known phrase from that era... "duck and cover!" It was totally built with pre-stressed concrete floors throughout the house and the attached garage. Thus, creating a clear-span ceiling in the entire lower level of the house, which extends all the way under the garage.

The Residence: With approximately 2576 square-feet on the main level and more than 2800 on the lower level, the home boasts two luxurious and sleek living spaces. This home makes a commanding first impression as you pass through the formal front entry doorway of steel and glass into a massive interior living space. Trademark picture windows flood all the rooms with sunlight. There is an equally impressive dining area and a modernized open kitchen loaded with cabinetry and expansive countertop space. The profusion of tiled flooring and the mammoth natural stone fireplace will immediately grab your attention. There are 3 bedrooms down a central hallway; the master has a 3/4 bath.

The Great Rec Rooms: 2 gigantic recreation rooms can be found in the walkout basement- one has a second stone fireplace the other has attractive slate floors and retro wall motifs. There is a ton of space here to create separate areas for a pool table, exercise equipment and a media entertainment area. Underneath the garage area, is an unassuming door leading to the discreet bar area that is reminiscent of a sophisticated and vintage Las Vegas Rat Pack era lounge. It is complete with a curvy raised stage floor that has wrought-iron railings around it. Certainly this would have been the location for many a past and glamorous cocktail party.

If you enjoy trendy retro housing then come back to the good old days right in your own home!
