Viroqua Wisconsin: I love small town life

I love small town life

I just spent some time tonight reading some of the posts on AR about all the fuss over on the West Coast with the 60 Minutes piece and Redfin. Boy it is nice to be in a little town where folks still wave at you when you drive down the highway. It is wonderful that so many of our clients trust us and know that you are doing your best job for them when they need to sell their homes. I don't think I care for the cut throat super high tech fast lane in Redfinville... They seem to be so really mean to each other, the comments on the various links to blogs out in the Seattle area are red hot with attitudes. I think they can have the big city life because it is really great here under the rainbow in our small town rural markets.

Mary, people do not know how to live in small towns once you have lived in large cities.  Everyone knows everyone, and they also know each others business...that's just the way it is.  Nice post.  Just pass'n through.....

Thanks Gary, Yes that can certainly be one of the down sides of small town life.  Certainly there other too. But as to real estate and models of business ie: redfin, many buyers are relocating from larger cities to smaller markets for retirement and the benefit of having a more affordable home, more time for family and a less complicated lifestyle. Which is why I moved here from Chicago.  The playing field is more level here, mostly because of our market size. If you do a good job, you are reward and can do very well in a small town market.  It is common to have repeat business.  Not all the latest technology and some of the older technology are not a part of daily tools of everyday business in our real estate market. No doubt it will come, but right now most agents here are not even Realtors or on-line, it is still reputation over discount.
