Saturday I went out to tour a new listing and inspect the property; to my pleasant surprise, the island counter top in this home was filled with gleaming glass mason jars, freshly canned with green beans. It reminded me of how much fun canning can be. Part of the joys of country living is of course planting your own a huge garden and reaping the rewards of home grown organic foods. For most, it is no longer a necessity to can vegetables for the cost saving. Most who can, do it simply because these vegetable just taste better. It is something the whole family can do together for fun and enjoyment and the later rewards from an abundant summertime garden. After all, there is no better treat than the taste of the vegetable you grew yourself and the satisfaction of having a full pantry full of vegetables to enjoy over winter!Country Garden, Harvest Time
