On Saturday, my last appointment of the day was with an enthusiastic city buyer interested in owning a trout stream property. The plan was to meet up at my office around 2 pm, then head out of town to have a look at the Hornby Hollow property This trout stream is a sleeper of a trout stream and is known to fish well. It is not over fished, off the beaten tract and has some pretty unique stretches of water. Working in a rural market is so great; it could hardly be called working. You basically never know what nature scenes might unfold before your eyes. You learn always to be prepared with a camera in hand.
On this particular day, as I arrived at my listing and directly across this gravel road, it appeared to be turnout day. For city folk: that is the day young cattle are just released on the open pasture to graze on new grass. Both the buyer and I proceeded to look over the stream, the land, and enjoy the country scenery and all the young cows. They were just as curious about us as we were of them. The fly fisherman and I both looked at each other and mutually agreed what we were seeing was a real life, living, Grandma Moses folk-art painting. Don't you agree?

Wow Mary, that reminds me of the old "cow heard" herd joke.
Mary, I agree. Showing land in the country is always a welcome activity.
Betty don't know the cow heard joke, you will have to post it could use a good laugh!
Karen, we both agree!
I just found it here: http://www.helium.com/items/914246-little-bovine-funjoke-traveling
A lady from the city and her traveling companion were riding the train through the countryside when she notices some cows
"What a cute bunch of cows!" she remarked.
"Not a bunch, a herd" her friend replied.
"Heard of what?"
"Herd of cows"
"Of course I've heard of cows."
"No, a cow herd".
"What do I care what a cow heard. I have no secrets to keep from a cow"
ouch!
Mary... This is a great story.. and I agree. This brings me back to my childhood.. not TOO long ago. Our neighbors had cows, and once in a while they would get out.. not as many cows as above, but enough for the neighborhood homes to have 5 to 6 cows on each lawn. The adults went crazy.. us kids... LOVED IT.
Thanks for the post.
Mary, great pictures! Sounds like a fun job. I'm laughing at Valerie's posting of 5-6 cows on the lawn :)
Mary
The pictures make me miss my farm.
Sincerely
Tom Braatz
Betty: that is very funny, thanks for coming back and posting that!

Mary, although I am a city girl, a just love cows. They are a Hindu prosperity thing and I have a big painting of one in my office!
Patricia: They do have personality and charm thanks for commenting
Mary, That is a sight to see! I have never seen that many cows in one place. Great picture!
Roberta: thanks for commenting, they will spread out once they get comfortable with the new pasture area and just being released in a new area.
Mary, sounds like it was a heavenly day on earth working as a Realtor. I've got a fascination with cows myself. I took a few great pictures of a similar scene a couple of weeks ago, but haven't had time to do the post yet. Your pictures have me motivated. I really enjoyed your pictures. Betty's joke was funny. Have a great day.
Yes Betty's joke was a hoot, or moooo not sure.
