Anytime you see a gazebo, thoughts of graceful living from a past Victorian era most likely will come to mind. I have observed that most of the gazebos I have ever seen; no one is ever in them. Wondering what's up with that? I would guess that is because the ones I usually spot are located in very public places. Like in Village Parks, Town Squares and Cemeteries. No surprise, who would want to sit around in those places? We have one at our community golf course and next Saturday, weather permitting; a little wedding ceremony is scheduled there. It's a definite fact, these more publicly shared gazebos don't get used much for relaxing; they're more for getting quickly out of a cloudburst when there's a sudden rainstorm, or they are used as a memorial to honor a dearly departed loved one.
So, to be really glorious and inspiring a gazebo must be found in a very private place. These are the hidden away gazebos that are places where you can sit and gaze across the garden or take in a view. Unfortunately, unless you have been invited into someone top secret garden spot, you might continue to think like many others and assume... gazebos... no one, nowadays, ever sits in one of those! To the contrary, I suspect that the most graceful gazebos are the ones that are tucked away from sight. Those are the ones reserved for the sole pleasure and enjoyment of their owners and their very special guests.

You know, I had never thought about gazebos not being used, but I can't remember the last time I ever saw someone in a gazebo regardless of where it was--public or private. I used to have a gazebo in my back yard and I spent waaaaaaaaay too much time out there watching the skunks, opossums, coyote, foxes, lizards, birds, snakes, and snails. If Enron and others had not manipulated the energy markets back in 2000-2001, I would still own that house. Alas, memories will have to do. Thanks.
Hi Russel, Even the one I photographed for this blog, does not look like it was being used too often, I should have asked about that... guess I will have to find out, just out of curiosity.
Hi Mary, I love gazebos too. They are so inviting and so beautiful. And most are placed in beautiful settings. But you are correct - it seems there is never anyone in them. Weird huh? Thanks for sharing!
Hi Sandy, thanks for stopping by and reading, this one was so unique it inspired me.
